Persons with disabilities are not alone in the lone star state. Texas offers several programs of advocacy, information, and assistive technology.
- Vehicle Modifications
The Rehabilitation Technology Resource Center provides information about vehicle modifications and handles loan equipments. They also provide demonstrations. - Services for Persons with Physical Disabilities
The Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services offer s a vocational rehabilitation program that handles training, counseling, assistive devices and job placement. - Community Options
Develops residential and employment support for people with disabilities including the utilization of technology. - Family to Family Network
A source of support for families with children with disabilities. They provide information, training, and referrals. - Independent Living Services
This division promotes self-sufficiency by living independently, improving mobility and improving social adjustment. Centers are located throughout the state to provide resources and information about independent living. - Disabled Drivers in Texas
State regulations for disabled drivers including requirements, placards and fees. - Texas State Independent Living Council
The Mission of the council is to assure that Texans with disabilities have access to quality independent living services.
