No matter one's ability anyone can enjoy the gateway to the west or as the people who live there call it - Missouri. Persons with disabilities can find assistance on a regional, statewide and federal level.
- Missouri Assistive Technology
The mission of Missouri Assistive Technology is to increase access to assistive technology for Missourians with all types of disabilities, of all ages. They provide device demonstrations and equipment exchange. - Assistive Technology Loans
Missouri Assistive Technology offers two types of loan programs. They offer a short-term assistive technology equipment loan program that allows users to swap equipment. They also offer financial assistance for modifications including vehicle access. - Accessible Transportation
Public transportation is available throughout the state that is accessible by persons with disabilities. One program is the MetroBus that are equipped with lifts or ramps. - Independent Living Council
The Missouri Statewide Independent Living Council meets monthly to review and evaluate independent living measures implemented by Centers across the state. - Vocational Rehabilitation
Provides information and access to assistive devices that persons with disabilities can use to maintain or improve functional capabilities and one's own independence. Devices may be as simple as a modified door handle or as sophisticated as a voice-controlled computer system.
