Michigan Assisitive Techonology, Financial Aid & Disability Programs

Home to four of the five Great Lakes, Michigan is one of the most populated states in the country. Ensuring the ultimate Michigan experience, the state offers a variety of programs for persons with disabilities wishing to live a more independent life.

  • Michigan Assistive Technology Loan Program
    A loan fund that allows people with disabilities to purchase assistive technology devices and services including modifications to their vehicles.
  • Assistive Technology Xchange
    A Michigan based service where you can buy, sell or give away assistive technology for free. It is open to vendor who have used equipment for sale as well.
  • Alternatives in Motion
    A non-profit group that provides wheelchairs to individuals who do not qualify for other assistance or who could not obtain equipment without financial aid.
  • Pump Guide
    Disabled drivers can learn where to get full pump services at self-serve prices in the state of Michigan. The service was developed by the Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Michigan Petroleum Association.
  • Disability Network
    Online communities to help persons with disabilities play an active role in their community. They provide ways to get involved and transportation information to help make it easier to get involved.
  • Michigan Disability Rights Coalition
    The MDRC works to create opportunities for people with disabilities so they may live fully integrated lives within their communities.
  • Communities of Power
    A source of information about important issues in Michigan's disability community. They discuss what work is being done in individual communities and across the state to make communities accessible, integrated and supportive.
  • Accessible Transportation
    Michigan offers public transportation services that are accessible to persons with disabilities including paratransit services like The Ride and Go Bus.
  • Great Lakes ADA Center
    Provides information, materials, technical assistance and training for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
