Kansas Assisitive Techonology, Financial Aid & Disability Programs
Nicknamed the Sunflower State, Kansas's services and program for persons with disabilities are in full bloom. Kansas offers state services to enhance the quality of life for its citizens by focusing on accessibility, transportation and assistive equipment to allow people the chance to be more independent.
- Kansas Commission on Disability Concerns
The 30 member commission makes policy recommendations on laws, regulations and programs that affect people with disabilities. Recommendations revolved around reducing barriers and developing awareness and collaboration. - Accessible Transit
Kansas offers public transportation throughout the state. This site list transit services available county-by-county. - Assistive Technology for Kansans
A statewide project through the Kansas University Center on Disabilities at Parsons it has five regional sites across the state. They provide resources about assistive technology equipment exchange, training and funding through interagency loans. - The Whole Person, Inc.
A private, nonresidential, nonprofit organization that offers a free service to residents of Kansas and Missouri. They promote consumer control and choice of services to empower persons with disabilities to live an independent life. - Kansas Housing Resources
Assists persons with disabilities in making modifications to their residents. Homeowners are allowed a maximum of $5,000 for repairs and renters are allowed a total of $2,500.
